Site is live! Applied a bunch of updates Monday; the only one of any real importance was a security patch, but I figured I'd put up the rest while I was in the admin area.
One glitch: the old site isn't accessible with /1, or anything else for that matter. If you REALLY need to get to something there, let me know.
There's an experimental subscription module in place. The intent is to enable members to "subscribe" to content of interest to them, and they'll be e-mailed whenever stuff is added or changed in that area. I'm calling it "experimental" because, while it does work, for some reason the subscription link is only appearing on a few, relatively uninteresting pages. Will work on that.
Next up: updating the site maps for Google and Yahoo, and keeping an eye on site stats to make sure our search prominence doesn't slip. Actually, the new site should be beneficial in that regard as members can now add content, and dynamic = better in Google's rankings. Everyone is strongly encouraged to contribute, if only in the form of a bit of bio information on their blog page. The forum areas are also wide-open for discussions and such. I'm also still looking for old photos, and any other material that will establish some continuity of Club history. The "about EFC" page is rather sparse, guys, I need help to flesh it out!
Re posting new content: I found a MUCH better entry form that works more like a word processor, so you don't have to know HTML to do italics, links, and such. Supposed to have a release that works with our site engine (Drupal 6.3) any day now, and I'll vett and install it as soon as it's out.
Effective with this post, I'm going to keep this topic in the forum instead of copying to the home page. Information here is of interest mainly to Club members; no point in cluttering the front porch with it.
